How we measure
Sigcamp counts a view when a signature's banner image loads from our tracking domain, and a click when someone opens a signature link, which passes through that domain before reaching its destination. Known bots and link scanners are filtered out, IP addresses are stored only as daily one-way hashes, and all numbers are estimates.
What we count
| Metric | How it is counted |
|---|---|
| Views | The signature's image is loaded from t.sigcamp.com when the email is displayed. |
| Clicks | A signature link (banner, website, QR, branding, booking) opens through t.sigcamp.com, then redirects. |
| Meeting link clicks | Clicks on the Book a meeting button, plus banner clicks set to open the sender's booking link. |
| Reach | Distinct daily hashed IP addresses among views. |
What we filter out
- Bots and link scanners: requests with known bot or security-scanner user agents, or with no user agent, are not counted. Mail image proxies (like Gmail's) are still counted as views.
- Instant clicks: a click less than 2 seconds after a view from the same IP is treated as an automated scan and not counted.
- Floods: more than 20 hits a minute from the same source are not counted.
The person who clicked always reaches the destination; filtering only affects the numbers.
Where clicks go
Every tracked link adds UTM tags (utm_source=sigcamp, utm_medium=email_signature and a campaign name), so visits show up in your own analytics. Booking links also add utm_campaign=booking and the sender in utm_content. Destinations are checked against allowed domains before redirecting.
Privacy
- IP addresses are stored only as a one-way hash that changes daily.
- No cookies are set on recipients.
- The Sigcamp marketing website uses cookie-free, daily totals only.
Frequently asked questions
Are views exact?
No. Some mail apps load images in advance or through a proxy, and others block images until the reader allows them, so views are an estimate.
Do you store recipients' IP addresses?
No. Each IP address is turned into a one-way hash that changes every day, used only to filter duplicates and estimate reach.
What is a meeting link click?
A click on the Book a meeting button, or on a banner set to open the sender's booking link.
